Description John Villalovos 2010-05-27 19:08:08 UTC
I run ntsysv and select a service that I don't want to run.

I then look in /etc/rc3.d/ and I can still see the service set to start.

I disabled 'cpuspeed' using ntsysv.

I then look in /etc/rc3.d:
# ll /etc/rc3.d/*cpuspeed*
lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 18 May 26 05:56 /etc/rc3.d/S13cpuspeed -> ../init.d/cpuspeed

If I use chkconfig it appears to work:
# chkconfig cpuspeed off
# ll /etc/rc3.d/*cpuspeed*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 May 27 15:07 /etc/rc3.d/K99cpuspeed -> ../init.d/cpuspeed

Are you in runlevel 5 at the time? ntsysv only configures the current runlevel.

Comment 2 John Villalovos 2010-05-27 20:58:25 UTC
Ah, that was it. I thought it would do all runlevels.
