Description caspian 1999-09-09 11:22:40 UTC
This comment applies to Red Hat Linux in general:

Sucks; distribution is referred to as "product", has 100MB+
minimum install (same as Windows '9x) in all recent
versions, has horrible command-line package management tool
(rpm) and bloated GUI package management tool (glint or
whatever the hell its replacement in 6.0 is), is sold by
company that has no interest in free software, only money.
Is sold with closed-source software pack-ins, violating
supposed purpose for creating company's existence. Site
peppered with ads for expensive closed-source software
packages. Creating company is doing nothing to stop growing
misconception that Red Hat Linux IS Linux. Contains numerous
stability and security holes, making product appearing ever
more like its supposed competitor (and, in reality,
inspiration?) Windows '9x. Repeat: Sucks. Change it. Fix it.
Make the minimum install approx. 10-25MB, a la Slackware or
Debian. Fix rpm. Fix glint. Remove the closed-source,
payware pack-ins from the shrinkwrapped version. Remove the
ads for the expensive closed-source packages from the site.
Re-shift focus from money back to quality code and helping
fellow human beings. Repeat: RED HAT SUCKS. CHANGE IT.
