Description Christopher Beland 2008-07-15 20:23:07 UTC
I recently attempted to load
http://www.bbc.co.uk/nottingham/realmedia/2004/09/graham_norton_1.ram using
Firefox 3 and the default Fedora 9 installation. I had installed the
HelixPlayer RPM from yum and the RealPlayer RPM from:

https://helixcommunity.org/project/showfiles.php?group_id=154

What happened was that HelixPlayer loaded successfully, but then said that the
content I was trying to run required RealPlayer. It offered to open up a web
page for me to do that, but RealPlayer was already installed.

I would expect the correct player to start automatically. I was able to get
RealPlayer to start from Firefox by uninstalling the HelixPlayer RPM.

It seems to me that HelixPlayer should be able to tell if RealPlayer is
installed, and if so, start it. Alternatively, it seems like mozplugger should
try RealPlayer first for .ram files, and then HelixPlayer if RealPlayer is not
installed?

HelixPlayer-1.0.9-2.fc9.i386
mozplugger-1.10.1-1.i386

Looks like helixplayer has been removed from future Fedora versions.
