Description Spider 2008-06-23 22:27:26 UTC
Description of problem:
When you do a Network install (using the net install CD) you get a ton of Old
packages installed, which need updating after a reboot. What is the difficulty
in adding the updates/Security updates repository when you do a net install,
since you're already downloading all the packages one by one?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
do a network install

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Burn cd
2. Fiddle with finding the correct url from an unlisted list of mirrors
3. Groan when it wants to install all the same packages again after a reboot.
Actual results:
Three hours spent downloading packages

Expected results:
two hours spent downloading packages

Right, that's because F9 didn't have the updates repo selectable. The next
release of Fedora will allow you to select the updates repo right from the task
selection screen. This code is already in Rawhide. Whether it'll be enabled by
default is still open to some debate.

Comment 2 Spider 2008-06-24 18:29:34 UTC
Sorry to use a closed bug for discussion, but:

Will Rawhide ( F10 ) also include a list of mirrors from the installer? As that
was unavailable (or unfindable in F9) having the feature "there" but unable to
be used unless you supply a secret URI , would sort of defeat the purpouse.

Comment 3 Chris Lumens 2008-06-24 18:39:25 UTC
If you use the boot.iso and don't specify a method= parameter, you will get the
mirrorlist by default. So, yes.
