Description Frank Murphy 2008-06-14 11:58:19 UTC
Description of problem: usb h\d cannot work with grub-install, as it said "not
conatained in "bios" usb drive contained F9 u\g to Rawhide frmm runlevel 3
grub-install didn't work left with non-bootleable drive
(all internal ide\sata swithed off in bios, as they carry stable F9)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Unknown can't check todaye date?

How reproducible:
Diable internal ide\sata use external usb h\d with boot\mbr installed to it

Steps to Reproduce:
1. as above
2.
3.

Actual results:
non -bootable usb, just shows: GRUB>p

Expected results: Bootable rawhide

Additional info: If I know what logs needed, probable can put external into F9's
fstab and upload

Comment 1 Frank Murphy 2008-06-14 12:06:26 UTC
Fedora-9-dvd rescue mode.
Does not help as above
grub-install /dev/sda(*) does not have any corresponding BIOS drive

(*) the ltter changes if I enable all internals, but uuid statys the same with
the same GRUB>p
