Description Eric Lavarde 2019-04-06 08:40:37 UTC
Description of problem:
calling `xdg-open <somefile>` delegated to `gio open <somefile>` opens the containing folder and not the actual file.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
glib2-2.58.3-1.fc29.x86_64
xdg-utils-1.1.3-3.fc29.noarch

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. call `gio open <somefile>`

Actual results:
the file manager is opened, showing the folder containing the file, the file is selected.

Expected results:
the file is opened in the editor/viewer fitting its type.

Additional info:

It doesn't make any difference how I point to the file:

gio open somefile
gio open /someabsolutepath/somefile
gio open file:///someabsolutepath/somefile

The type of the file doesn't seem to make a difference.

Under Cinnamon 4.0.8 (Fedora 29) in case it's relevant.
