Description customercare 2019-03-30 21:06:51 UTC
Created attachment 1549932 [details]
4.20.17 dmesg

1. Please describe the problem:

in conjunction with a wine program, that program suffers from a massiv performance loss. Usually it takes 130-150% CPU, with 4.20.17 it takes
up to 240%

2. What is the Version-Release number of the kernel:

kernel-4.20.17-100.fc28.x86_64

3. Did it work previously in Fedora? If so, what kernel version did the issue
*first* appear? Old kernels are available for download at
   https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=8 :

kernel-4.19.9-201.fc28.x86_64 does not show this problem.

No idea when it got introduced. I had several problems with kernels > 4.19.9 + wine.

4. Can you reproduce this issue? If so, please provide the steps to reproduce
   the issue below:

Yes, by playing that program ( Runes of Magic ) i can reproduce it.

5. Does this problem occur with the latest Rawhide kernel? To install the
Rawhide kernel, run ``sudo dnf install fedora-repos-rawhide`` followed by
   ``sudo dnf update --enablerepo=rawhide kernel``:

6. Are you running any modules that not shipped with directly Fedora's kernel?:

nvidia => rpmfusion via akmod.

7. Please attach the kernel logs. You can get the complete kernel log
   for a boot with ``journalctl --no-hostname -k > dmesg.txt``. If the
issue occurred on a previous boot, use the journalctl ``-b`` flag.

Comment 1 customercare 2019-04-08 20:22:14 UTC
not a kernel problem as it looks like.

Happend today with the 4.19.x kernel too.

Comment 2 customercare 2019-04-08 20:27:53 UTC
Clarification:

Wine 4.0-1 fc28
kernel 4.20.17 and 4.19.9 both fc28

since a few weeks, RUNES OF MAGIC (32bit Windowsversion) shows increased cpu usage. ~ 130% cpuusage per core ( 8 core Fx-8350 )
was normal. ATM we have 170% to 250% for the same code. No Updates with wine, no updates on RunesOM.

The usage goes up, gfx rates drops to stop-motion ratio, 1-2 minutes, usage back to normal.
5-15 minutes later same thing happens again.

I'm not sure how anyone can diagnose anything from this bug report when there is no specific bug reported.

Please take troubleshooting issues to the proper forum. Bugzilla is not for this time of reporting.
