Description of problem:attempting to startx using statx script and .xinitrc containing "/usr/bin/bash -xv /usr/bin/startkde"

additional info: This is a fc31 (rawhide) system running under VirtualBox Version 6.0.5 r129423 (Qt5.6.1).
