As the initial description shows the customer has configured:

map to guest = Bad Password


please see the smb.conf manpage for an explanation how this is mapped to a guest account. I guess that the customer wants to set it to "Bad User".

Thanks.  Yes, I did.  I had changed that while trying different options and forgot to change it back.   I did set "map to guest = Bad User" and restarted winbind, smbd, and nmbd.   Still getting the same result.
