Description Nils Koenig 2019-03-13 10:37:33 UTC
When migration a VM with a SRIOV NIC the NIC gets unplugged (and therefore unreachable) during migration. This leads to a rather long downtime.
There exists a documented workaround: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_virtualization/4.3-beta/html-single/virtual_machine_management_guide/#Live_migration_prerequisites
which basically adds a virto NIC and bonds the SRIOV and virtio NIC. While this is functional okay it might be worth investigating if a "cleaner" solution of a fast SRIOV migration would be possible.

Amnon, I believe that you have interesting long-term plans about live-migratable PCI?
