Description German Parente 2019-03-05 17:47:46 UTC
Description of problem:

This is a recurrent issue we have seen in different customer cases. With users mostly but this time we are seeing them in "cn=sudoers" subtree. I am documenting this issue in this bugzilla.

This is a what we are seeing, for instance, in one customer compat tree mapping:

# base <cn=test2-tst,ou=sudoers,dc=example,dc=com> with scope subtree
# filter: (objectclass=*)

# test2-tst, sudoers, example.com
dn: cn=test2-tst,ou=sudoers,dc=example,dc=com
nscpentrywsi: dn: cn=test2-tst,ou=sudoers,dc=example,dc=com
nscpentrywsi: createTimestamp: 20190227174331Z
nscpentrywsi: modifyTimestamp: 20190227174331Z
nscpentrywsi: creatorsName: cn=Schema Compatibility,cn=plugins,cn=config
nscpentrywsi: modifiersName: cn=Schema Compatibility,cn=plugins,cn=config
nscpentrywsi: entryusn: 2208206
nscpentrywsi: objectClass: sudoRole
nscpentrywsi: objectClass: top
nscpentrywsi: sudoUser: %test-users2
nscpentrywsi: sudoOption: !authenticate
nscpentrywsi: sudoOption: ignore_local_sudoers
nscpentrywsi: cn: test2-tst

# test2-tst, sudoers, example.com
dn: cn=test2-tst,ou=sudoers,dc=example,dc=com
nscpentrywsi: dn: cn=test2-tst,ou=sudoers,dc=example,dc=com
nscpentrywsi: createTimestamp: 20190227174023Z
nscpentrywsi: modifyTimestamp: 20190227174023Z
nscpentrywsi: creatorsName: cn=Schema Compatibility,cn=plugins,cn=config
nscpentrywsi: modifiersName: cn=Schema Compatibility,cn=plugins,cn=config
nscpentrywsi: entryusn: 2208058
nscpentrywsi: objectClass: sudoRole
nscpentrywsi: objectClass: top
nscpentrywsi: sudoOption: !authenticate
nscpentrywsi: sudoOption: ignore_local_sudoers
nscpentrywsi: cn: test2-tst

So, exact same entry with different USN (of course) but also, see the createtimestamp. Only 3' difference between them.

What we will need is more debug messaging for this plugin logging when the maps are created with "plugin logging" so as to further troubleshoot this issue.

We don't know how to reproduce this.

This looks similar to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1532795. In that case we weren't able to reproduce it either. Since that bug is ACKed for RHEL 7.7 work, I'd intend to close this one as a duplicate.
