Description Hans de Goede 2005-06-29 11:14:56 UTC
If you start system-config-printer as normal user from a (x)terminal it says:
You must be root to run this program.

If you start it from the menu it does give the normal dialog:
You are attempting to run "printconf-gui" which requires administrative
privileges, but more information is needed in order to do so.

This is rather inconsistent, esp with the other system-config-xx tools which
work fine from a terminal.

What does 'echo $PATH' say? Sounds like your PATH is wrong, and you're running
/usr/sbin/system-config-printer instead of /usr/bin/system-config-printer.

Erm yes I am indeed, I've changed /etc/profile todo the pathmunge stuff for
normal users too. I like to be able to use ifconfig (readonly) and stuff as a user.

Why the 2 different versions, afaik system-config-printer is pretty much alone
in this.
