Description Creme Brulee 2018-07-22 16:01:33 UTC
Description of problem:

Impossible to select whitespaces (namely spaces and/or tabs) with mouse or keyboard if they [whitespaces] are the only characters to be selected.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gedit v3.28.1

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. type at least one space, tab or a mix of them.
2. try to select them with keyboard arrow keys while holding SHIFT or using the mouse while the LMB is pressed (when the mouse is configured for the right-handed).

Actual results:
No selection formed.

Expected results:
Selection is formed for the selected characters.

Additional info:
Adding any non-whitespace character (number, letter, punctuation, special char) to the typed characters in Step1 makes it possible to form a selection
Examples:
No selection possible: " \t \t\t "
Selection is formed: " x \t \t\t " (character 'x' added)
