Description XiaochuanWang 2018-07-19 02:13:02 UTC
Description of problem:
Create a project with multi lines description, browse to the project page and try to update it in Annotations overlay panel. It shows incorrectly and will update as one line string.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): latest 5188f5035cee 6 hours ago 259 MB
openshift v3.10.18

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a project with multi lines description, browse to the project page
2. Check the Annotation overlay panel on "Namespace Overview" page.
3. Input something and hit Enter
4. Check the project annotations in YAML

Actual results:
2. Multi-lines description display in oneline without any escape.
3. It will be saved when hitting Enter.
4. Update the description as one line string

Expected results:
Multi-lines description should not show and update like one line string.

The annotation editor is not designed to let you add multiline values. It will preserve existing multiline values you don't change, however, and it is still possible to add multiline annotations in the YAML editor.

We should decide if there's a small change we can make to support this (maybe show existing multiline annotation values using a text area?), but arguably this is an enhancement rather than a bug fix.

Changing severity to low in the meantime since existing values are preserved and there's an easy workaround using the YAML tab.
