Description ricky.tigg 2017-11-24 12:35:45 UTC
Description of problem:
Mate interface does not display Xfce session log in option

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible – Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install updates: $ sudo dnf update -y
2. Install Xfce group package: $ sudo dnf install -y @Xfce
3. Reboot system

Actual results:
Mate Log in Session interface does not display Xfce session log in option, but its own one.

Expected results:
By default after installing this group package, the default target should have automatically updated, meaning that after a reboot the Xfce Seession log in GUI should automatically be loaded.

Additional info:
Fedora-MATE_Compiz-Live-x86_64-27-1.6.iso file from Fedora's website, installed as virtual machine on Virtual Machine Manager 1.4.3.

Run commands without fixing effect:
$ systemctl set-default graphical.target
$ systemctl get-default
graphical.target

The login manager ?

Comment 2 Wolfgang Ulbrich 2017-11-24 13:00:31 UTC
And did you an installation to disk or do speak about a live session?

Comment 5 Wolfgang Ulbrich 2017-11-24 14:03:07 UTC
You are speaking about lightdm login manager :-)
Here you need to choose xfce in context menu at top panel of lightdm.
This works here out of box and i can login to xfce.

Comment 7 ricky.tigg 2017-11-24 14:23:27 UTC
Today yet, I was not aware as noticeable from Bug 1515929's Comment 2 of that term "lightdm", so thank you.

Comment 8 Wolfgang Ulbrich 2017-11-24 14:34:06 UTC
And did you find xfce session entry in lightdm ?

Comment 9 ricky.tigg 2017-11-24 15:06:34 UTC
I found it indeed, thank you. I may certainly clone it as client for use on virtual networks. Server are Centos 7.
