Description Mihir Lele 2017-11-21 10:07:02 UTC
Description of problem:

Incremental update of a content view with security advisories includes more packages than needed (and without proper dependency resolution)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 6.2.12

How reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Publish a CV by adding below repos:

a) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Server RPMs x86_64 7Server
b) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Server - Oracle Java RPMs x86_64 7Server
c) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Server - Optional RPMs x86_64 7Server

These repos will make sure that all the required erratas are available as "Applicable" on the sat webui.

2. Add the erratas to an incremental CV update using hammer:

# hammer content-view version incremental-update --errata-ids RHSA-2017:2882,RHSA-2017:2885,RHSA-2017:2907,RHSA-2017:2930,RHSA-2017:2998,RHSA-2017:2999,RHSA-2017:3046,RHSA-2017:3047 --content-view-version-id 260 --resolve-dependencies yes --lifecycle-environments "Library" --organization-id 1

Actual results: It is observed that attempting to add the above erratas in turn pulls some packages out of the below erratas:

RHBA-2017:2941 (systemd)
RHBA-2017:2942 (nss)

And the due to this, yum update on the host fails with dependencies.

Expected results:

The CV should either not pull packages from other errata at all, or it should automatically resolve dependencies of the dependent erratas.

Additional info:

It is observed that the below packages are added in the CV which causes issue:

nss-3.28.4-15.el7_4.i686
nss-3.28.4-15.el7_4.x86_64
nss-sysinit-3.28.4-15.el7_4.x86_64
systemd-219-42.el7_4.4.x86_64
systemd-libs-219-42.el7_4.4.x86_64
systemd-sysv-219-42.el7_4.4.x86_64
