Description David Hildenbrand 2017-11-08 14:16:27 UTC
Description of problem:

Currently, there is only one man page for all qemu binaries, and it is mainly x86 specific (with some parts of other architectures mixed in). Therefore, information given by "man qemu-kvm" is pretty much useless (apart from the common properties).

This most probably has to be solved upstream, also taking other architectures into account.

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. man qemu-kvm on s390x

Actual results:
Information regarding qemu-kvm on x86 like

The QEMU PC System emulator simulates the following peripherals:

       - i440FX host PCI bridge and PIIX3 PCI to ISA bridge

       - Cirrus CLGD 5446 PCI VGA card or dummy VGA card with Bochs VESA extensions (hardware level, including
           all non standard modes).

       - PS/2 mouse and keyboard

       - 2 PCI IDE interfaces with hard disk and CD-ROM support

       - Floppy disk

       - PCI and ISA network adapters

Expected results:
Information regarding qemu-kvm on s390x

Comment 3 David Hildenbrand 2017-11-09 14:14:23 UTC
Moving to Fedora as this is relevant for upstream.

Comment 4 Daniel Berrange 2017-11-09 14:20:45 UTC
Realistically no one in Fedora is going to deal with this, as it is non-trivial work & requires a major time investment. IOW it would be better to report to the QEMU community upstream instead. If & when anyone deals with it there, it'll flow into Fedora naturally.
