Description Göran Uddeborg 2017-11-07 10:02:47 UTC
Description of problem:
The gdb-heap package requires glibc(x86-64) = 2.25.90, but that version is (no longer, I guess) available in the F27 repositories. The available glibc package is version 2.26. This makes it impossible to install gdb-heap.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf install gdb-heap

Actual results:
Problem: cannot install the best update candidate for package gdb-heap-0.5-28.fc26.x86_64
  - nothing provides glibc(x86-64) = 2.25.90 needed by gdb-heap-0.5-30.fc27.x86_64

Comment 1 Michal Jaegermann 2018-06-23 18:50:10 UTC
The same issue affects Fedora 28 as well. To wit:

 Problem: conflicting requests
  - nothing provides glibc(x86-64) = 2.26.90 needed by gdb-heap-0.5-31.fc28.x86_64

That is correct as in use there is glibc-2.27-15.fc28

This message is a reminder that Fedora 27 is nearing its end of life.
On 2018-Nov-30 Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for
Fedora 27. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases
that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as
EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '27'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 27 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 3 Göran Uddeborg 2018-11-27 21:27:24 UTC
The problem remains in F29.

 Problem: conflicting requests
  - nothing provides glibc(x86-64) = 2.26.90 needed by gdb-heap-0.5-33.fc29.x86_64
