Description Luzemario 2016-07-15 21:01:36 UTC
Description of problem: spacewalk-common-channels throws an error if language is UTF-8 based

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Set OS language to any UTF-8 (i.e. pt_BR.UTF-8) then run spacewalk-common-channels to add channels

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run spacewalk-common-channels with all channels '*' option but an invalid username or password
2. An error message will be generated about username or password incorrect
3. The error message can't be displayed

Actual results:
[root@swalk ~]# spacewalk-common-channels -u admin -p pass -k unlimited '*'
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/spacewalk-common-channels", line 221, in <module>
    options.server)
File "/usr/bin/spacewalk-common-channels", line 73, in connect
    key = xmlrpc_login(client, options.user, password)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/spacewalk/common/cli.py", line 76, in xmlrpc_login
    sys.stderr.write("Error: %s\n" % e.faultString)
UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\xe1' in position 60: ordinal not in range(128)

Expected results:

[root@swalk ~]# spacewalk-common-channels -u admin -p pass -k unlimited '*'
Error: redstone.xmlrpc.XmlRpcFault: Either the password or username is incorrect.

Additional info:

Setting OS language to any ASCII (i.e. non-UTF8) codepage resolves the issue.
