The reported issue is not a bug. The repository you are using is not supposed to be used with the distribution you are using.

Well i'm using public-yum-el5.repo - which else should i use?!

According to the log you've provided you are using

That's where the symlinks-1.4-1.2.x86_64 package (which was NOT built for Oracle Linux Server release 5.8) comes from.
