Spec URL:
Description: KeePass is a free open source password manager, which helps you to
manage your passwords in a secure way. You can put all your passwords in
one database, which is locked with one master key or a key file. You
only have to remember one single master password or select the key file
to unlock the whole database.

Works fine, just some packaging guideline fixes required.

Package Review

[x] = Pass, [!] = Fail, [-] = Not applicable, [?] = Not evaluated
[ ] = Manual review needed

- Package installs a %{name}.desktop using desktop-file-install or desktop-
file-validate if there is such a file.

It seems that this is a requirement, and pretty easy to fix:

- License file not installed when -doc subpackage is installed

I do not know which license the documentation would be under, but my guess would be (implicitly) the same as the rest of the package. I suggest including License.txt in the -doc subpackage.

- Calls rm -rf %{buildroot} and mkdir %{buildroot} at the start of %install.

Is there a reason to do this? It looks like it just duplicates what RPM does, according the the build log, and upsets fedora-review. Related to

- The -doc subpackage does not own /usr/share/doc/keepass

I suppose that the -doc subpackage should own the directory, in addition to the keepass package.

- Icon theme directory ownership

Similar to the -doc subpackage ownership, the keepass package should own the icon directories.

Optional issues:

- Preserve modification time of installed files. Adding "-p" to install and cp arguments should help.

- The -doc subpackage should be noarch, as there is nothing architecture-specific there. Also, it would be nice to move the %package for the subpackage closer to the top of the file.

- Incorrect line-endings in -doc subpackage. I suppose that the same sed as for the .txt files would be appropriate.

Bogus issues:

- The rpmlint errors are all bogus and can be ignored.

Comment 4 Peter Oliver 2014-05-18 19:40:41 UTC
Spec URL:

- The licence is included in the file /usr/share/doc/keepass/Chm/help/v2/license.html, which, to my reading, covers the requirement in

- Since the documentation files with DOS line-endings are HTML files that will be read by a browser, and since browsers can cope fine with DOS line-endings, it doesn't seem worth the additional complexity of converting them, to me.

The other issues I've fixed. Thanks for the review!

Comment 5 David King 2014-05-18 21:34:25 UTC
Looks good now! Thanks for the clarification about the license, I missed that it was included in the -doc subpackage.

Comment 7 Christopher Meng 2014-05-21 01:20:12 UTC
How could this get approved?

1. python -c 'import archmod.CHM; archmod.CHM.CHMDir("Docs").process_templates("Docs/Chm")'

At least you need to use python macro %{__python2}.

2. %files -n %{name}-doc

Why not use "%files doc" directly?

3. %{_mandir}/man1/%{name}.1.gz

You should list it as:

4. %{_datadir}/mime

Completely wrong, please add requires on hicolor-icon-theme.

Comment 8 Gwyn Ciesla 2014-05-21 10:08:37 UTC
Git done (by process-git-requests).

Comment 9 Peter Oliver 2014-05-22 19:40:41 UTC

> How could this get approved?

This sounds like it might be intended to be an insult, aimed at the packager and/or the reviewer. Please try to avoid discouraging contributions.

> 1. python -c 'import archmod.CHM;
> archmod.CHM.CHMDir("Docs").process_templates("Docs/Chm")'

Fixed all these. Thanks for picking up on them.

> 4. %{_datadir}/mime
> %{_datadir}/icons/hicolor
> Completely wrong, please add requires on hicolor-icon-theme.

Well that would have been my instinct until I read, but, fancy that, hicolor-icon-theme contains only directories, not icons. Thanks again.

Comment 10 Christopher Meng 2014-05-22 23:57:09 UTC
shared-mime-info owns %{_datadir}/mime.

This one really is contradicted by the packaging guidelines. See and
