Description Orion Poplawski 2014-01-31 20:26:39 UTC
Description of problem:

Currently, R bundles a modified version of the tre library. This is currently causing problems for R on the arm architecture as that version of the tre library apparently has a bug in it that manifests itself as follows:

$ LANG= R -q -e 'sub(".*\\.", "", "/path/to/file.ext")'
> sub(".*\\.", "", "/path/to/file.ext", perl=FALSE)
[1] "/path/to/fileext"

instead of:

[1] "ext"

I built a modified version of the tre library here:

that included some of the modifications from the R version as noted here:
so that I could build R against it. R built against this version of the library works as expected.

Hopefully upstream tre will review/comment on these changes soon. But it would be nice to get this into Fedora so that we could get R working on arm - this is currently breaking a lot of things, esp. since noarch R packages are often built on arm machines in koji.

I committed these changes in tre-0.8.0-9.fc21.
