Description Ronald van Zantvoort 2014-01-21 13:32:01 UTC
Description of problem:
Perl 5.18 introduced a new mechanism for warning when using experimental features (https://metacpan.org/changes/release/RJBS/perl-5.18.0#New-mechanism-for-experimental-features)

Apparently Sys/VirtConvert/Connection/LibVirtTarget.pm uses the Smartmatch operator (http://perldoc.perl.org/perlop.html#Smartmatch-Operator) on lines 572 and 578, and therefore, on Perl 5.18, during neigh any operation of virt-v2v the following warnings will be printed:

Smartmatch is experimental at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/Sys/VirtConvert/Connection/LibVirtTarget.pm line 572.
Smartmatch is experimental at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/Sys/VirtConvert/Connection/LibVirtTarget.pm line 578.

[lianxiang ~]$ virt-v2v --version
Smartmatch is experimental at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/Sys/VirtConvert/Connection/LibVirtTarget.pm line 572.
Smartmatch is experimental at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/Sys/VirtConvert/Connection/LibVirtTarget.pm line 578.
0.9.0

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora 20, Perl 5.18.2, virt-v2v 0.9.0 (all stock from F20 repos)

How reproducible:
Run virt-v2v on any system with Perl 5.18+ (tested on Fedora 20)

Comment 1 Richard W.M. Jones 2014-09-10 12:59:01 UTC
virt-v2v 1.27 has been rewritten (not in Perl). Therefore closing.
